Capt. Ben and Ben Jr.

The fish started their Southern run in September and fish are everywhere. Capt. Ben Pitta and son took these nice gag grouper at the Rube Allen area, Indian Rocks Beach, in 45' of water.

Cobia, kings, mackerel, cero mackerel, amberjack, grouper and hogfish a plenty. Vis is in the 40' to 50' range, water temps, still in the high 70's so get out in the Gulf before the water cools off.

My latest Craze Alligator Night Diving in Florida

How do you get a Florida Gator off your doorstep? Buy the Pizza!
Why I don't answer my doorbell anymore!

This bigun tore up the golf course.
Capt. JJ Carter's 12' Gator.

WOW!
18' Gator

When I am asked if there are alligators or sharks in the water, my usual comment is: "Stick your finger in the water, now taste it. If it tastes salty, there's probably a shark somewhere. If it tastes fresh, there's probably a gator somewhere." Or if asked if there are sharks around, "Nope, gators ate them all". If asked about gators, "Nope, sharks ate them all". What do you do if you see a shark or gator at night? "Close your eyes, you won't see it anymore".

Ever since shark feeding was banned in Florida, we Florida folk have been looking for a new adventure. I tried Bear Baiting, but that quickly turned in Bear Hating. I Hate Bears. Everytime I see a Bear now I just go the other way, I can't stand them! I guess I'm not alone in my hatred of bears, that's why we have the expressions, "Can't Bear that, UnBearable and can't Bear with you..."

But now I have found a new love, Gator Night Diving!

Most Florida rivers, lakes and golf courses have gators. Gators are usually nocturnal so most of the diving is at night. I prefer golf courses because the golf carts are great for carrying gear and dragging gators. (We collect a ton of golf balls too!) For a really big gator you have to use two carts. Be careful where you drag the gator though, they will tear up a golf course something bad. We use lights with red lens covers, white light tends to frighten the gators away. There is a hunting season for gators by permit only, so if you want to go night dive gator hunting with me, you'll have to have the proper paperwork. Even though the gator hunting season is over, there will still be some around until it gets really cold. I teach a required specialty course on Gator Night Diving. Proper training in this area of diving is very important! Contact me if you are interested in the course and a Gator Night Dive! Let's go Gator Diving!
